Community Church’s operations are directed in part by several committees that are dedicated to the overall operations of the church. Ultimately, these committees support the endeavors of the Community United Methodist Church.
Church Council
Church council is responsible for the vision, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the mission and ministry of the church. It oversees and provides for planning and implementing a program of nurture, outreach, witness and resources in the church.
Lay Leadership
The committee recommends the names of people to serve as officers and leaders of designated ministry areas. Additionally, they identify, develop, evaluate and monitor Christian spiritual leadership for the church.
Trustees
The board of trustees has the supervision, oversight and care of all real property owned by the church and of all property and equipment acquired directly by the church. This committee is responsible for the physical property of Community Church.
Finance
This committee annually compiles a budget for the church and submits it to church council for review and adoption. In addition, the finance committee administers the funds received according to instructions from church council. The committee also carries out the church council’s directions in guiding the treasurer and financial secretary.
Staff-Parish Relations Committee
The staff-parish relations committee (SPRC) assists the pastor(s) and staff in assessing their gifts and setting priorities for leadership and service. It is their responsibility to communicate with the lay leadership committee and/or church council when there is a need for other leaders or employed staff. The SPRC strives to help the pastors; staff and volunteers best utilize their gifts in fulfilling the ministry needs of Community Church.
